Poor Baby!

Yes, someone is still sick...

But not sick enough to miss out on a game of "Where's Clay?" with Monte...

There's that smile!!!

We had such a good evening last night... I just knew he was on the mend! He ate well, drank well, played well, and then when I took his temp, it was 102.9! He did sleep the whole night, but woke up this morning very fussy and had a 101.9 temp. Boo!!! Guess he's staying home with me for at least another 2 days!

Photo Session is a NO GO!

Remember the exciting 1 year photography session I told you we were having yesterday??? The one I was so excited about?? Well, it didn't happen. Some little guy got REALLY sick! And by really sick I mean high fevers, fussiness, congestion, sleepless nights... this makes for a very tired baby and mama (and daddy too!). Clay woke up early yesterday and was not his usual self. I took his temp first thing and it was a little over 100. Guess who wasn't going to daycare??? As the day went on, the fever kept getting higher and higher. We took him to the doctor to rule out the flu and THANK GOODNESS it wasn't the flu!! The doctor said it was a virus of some sorts and that it may take 3 - 4 days to get over. 3 TO 4 DAYS!!!!! Oh my! Anyways, she went ahead and put him on some more antibiotics... not for the virus, but for his congestion in hopes that it will head off the ear infection she knows he will get. If he gets 1 more ear infection, it's off to get tubes we go! Last night was a rough night. Mark and I didn't get much sleep because we were worried about our little man and he didn't get much sleep because his fever sky-rocketed to over 103! I gave him some Motrin, we watched an episode of Days of Our Lives, and then he finally went back to bed after I rocked him for... oh, about an hour.

And today... he's better. Still has a fever, although it's not near as high as it was last night. He's had moments of fussiness, but I think (hopefully) the worst has passed! He's napping right now getting some much needed rest and I'm hoping that when he wakes up, he will be fever-free!

Well, obviously we didn't get to have our fun photo session yesterday... and OF COURSE it was the absolute most gorgeous day (although, today ain't too shabby)!! It has been rescheduled to November 10th (I know! Wow! Over a month away!). Hopefully by then Clay will be on the move as far as walking goes so we can get some better pictures!

Friday Fun at the Fair with Funnel Cake!

Friday night we decided to take Clay to his first county fair. We were a tad disappointed because we thought there would be more animals... all they had were goats. Clay didn't care much about the goats but loved all the lights and people watching! We kicked a lap around the fair to see what rides were "Clay-friendly" and decided on these old timey looking cars and the carousel. The cars didn't get any smiles, but he LOVED the carousel!

Saturday we went into town and did a little shopping with my good friend, Emily. I was on a mission to find something to wear for our pictures we're having done tomorrow and Em spotted the perfect sweater! It was a successful trip even though the weather was horrible! I've been so nervous about pictures! I researched forever on who I wanted to do his one-year pictures and some family pictures. I'm very happy with who I decided on and can't wait to see what they have up their sleeve! I'm a little worried about how Clay will react to the cameras... he rarely ever smiles when I pull mine out! They don't do "posed" pictures, so I'm hoping he'll be having so much fun he won't even notice them! I'll be sure to let ya'll know how they go!

Finally! I got a video of Clay doing his wobbly walk! He still isn't very balanced and he only walks when we entice him with a toy or goldfish crackers or if it's a short distance from point A to point B. I'm excited he's starting to walk a bit, but a little scared of the whole new world walking is going to open for us! He's an extremely fast crawler, so I'm afraid he's going to by-pass the whole walking thing and start running! Time to go buy the baby leash!

Party Like An 80's Pop Star!

This past Saturday we celebrated my sister-in-law Lee Anne's 40th birthday with a blast from the past... 80's style! I came armed with my camera thinking it had full battery strength... but I was fooled! After a few pictures, it started flashing "low battery"... BOO!!! I did manage to get a few funny pictures!

We had a blast!! We danced to 80's musice until almost 2 in the morning, ate some good food including 80's candies like fireballs and pop rocks, and had many a good laugh over everyone's 80's outfits!! Happy Birthday, Lee Anne!!!!

I've taken a bunch of random pictures of Clay lately that have absolutely nothing to do with each other, so what better place to post them, than on a Photo Friday post!

First, I'll start off with a sweet smile since I got NO sweet smiles from him at his Bday party!

And on the agenda for the weekend... We are going over to Mark's sister's house to celebrate her big 40th birthday!!! She's having an 80's themed birthday party. I've gotten a few accessories for my costume, but need to find the rest of it tomorrow. I'm thinking old school Madonna with a little bit of Flashdance (you know I just needed an excuse to buy some leg warmers!). I'm a little bummed that I can't pull off the "big hair" look due to my fine, straight-as-a-board hair, but I'll be rocking out the side ponytail (with neon colored scruchies, of course)! It's amazing how much 80's stuff you can find in the stores these days! It's what is in style now! I can totally dress myself 80's with the Miley Cyrus line at Wally World :)! Anyways... be looking for the crazy pictures! Have a great weekend!!!

Thirsty Thursday

Yeah... he's hittin' the bottle at such a young age... We decided to skip the whole sippy cup thing and move onto 2 liters. Helps us with not having to worry about filling the cup up so often.

At least it's Diet AND Caffeine Free!!!

Anyways... I'm sure you are all wondering how we are doing with Operation Sippy Cup. Clay is actually doing quite well with it! There have been a couple of dinners this week where he's drank the whole thing! I asked how he's doing with them at school and his teachers say he's doing ok... all the other kids in his class have bottles, so I think he's a bit jealous of them right now. At his last check up, I asked the doctor how many ounces of whole milk he needed a day and she told me 8 ounces. She said that some toddlers don't drink anywhere close to that, so if he gets 3 servings of full-fat dairy a day, then he's good. Let's just say we will not be having a problem with that! He can practically eat his weight in cheese (if I would let him).
